Handwritten Letter by Fifth Officer Lowe
The letter from Titanic’s fifth officer was depicted in Cameron’s film, Titanic, as the man leading the lifeboat in search for living amongst the dead. Lowe is replying to second class passenger and survivor Selena Rogers Cook who was traveling from England to Greenwich Connecticut. Harold Lowe was third officer on White Stars Gothic when he wrote a year later in 1913. Mrs Cook was an inveterate writer and saver and her vast collection of personal effects she had in her possession while on board Titanic was donated to The Titanic Historical Society.
